Kamal's birthday fell on November 7 and he made a big announcement that in order to express solidarity towards the killing of Sri Lankan Tamils, Rajinikanth also follow the suit. He requested his fans to express solidarity with the Sri Lankan Tamils in the island nation who were "suffering" in the ongoing war between the army and LTTE. According to Sudhakar, incharge, Rajnikanth Fans Welfare Association, "everyone is deeply hurt by the sufferings of Tamils in the neighbouring island nation. Hence we have chosen not to celebrate Rajnikanth's birthday on December 12". Actor Vijay and some of his fans in the Tamil Nadu observed a fast in support of the Sri Lankan Tamils who are ruthlessly killed by the militants of the Sri Lankan Island. The fasting of the actor and his fans took in 37 different places in support of the Tamils of Sri Lanka. Yet, there is no solution for it.
