A.R.RAHMAN STARTS MUSIC COLLEGE FOR INSTRUMENTALISTS AND VOCALISTS

Chennai: After 15 years of reigning over music charts musician A R Rahman is composing opportunities for young musicians.

Rahman is setting up a music conservatory called the K M Music Conservatory near his studio in Kodambakkam, Chennai, to nurture talented musicians.

The K M Music Conservatory will train aspiring musicians in all genres—vocal, instrumental, classical or fusion—and make them good enough to perform with any orchestra internationally.

The musicians will also perform in the KM Symphony Orchestra that the maestro is putting together. Rahman hopes his efforts bring back what's missing in contemporary Indian music.

“I think the dynamics are not there. Everything is on the face and loud and I think it needs to be a little soft and moderate. That can come only when you have an orchestral music training,” says Rahman.
