PRABHU DEVA AND NAYAN TARA WATCH WANTED FILM

BY N.THYAGARAJAN

Actor & Director Prabhu Deva watched the Wanted film in Mumbai with Nayan Tara, the dream girl of many. It is quite natural for anyone in the cine-field to have attraction with someone and Nayan Tara or Prabhu Deva are no exception to it. The problem is Prabhu Deva is an already married man with Ramalath who hails from a Moslem community. But the love has no eyes, for it is not the religion or the caste that attract each one at the time of marriage. Both the hearts meet at one point and decide to marry. In Prabhu Deva's marriage there was no open statement that the actor is in very much love with Nayan. But for Nayan, she could not stay alone though she is not married. Prabhu's extraordinary brilliance in the field has attracted many including the producers who made him to direct their films. But, Prabhu loves all.

Prabhu's wife who came to know that there was a rumour afloat that both her husband and Nayan Tara close friendly relationships, said in an recent interview, that the actress should be arrested, for she is very much in love with her husband. When some press-men contacted, Prabhu did not say anything about his friendship with Nayan Tara. Earlier, both met at the Bahrain in a mall and many public who came to know about both the actors in the shopping complex began to get autographs from both of them and when they asked about their presense in the mall, both reportedly told them that they were friends who came to Dubai for a shooting.

She acts in Bhavani as police officer like that of yesteryears' Vijaya Shanthi appeared in police officer cadre. But GOA film's character is entirely different. She appears in the film with sarees with soft-natured character. " The two different characters in those two films have no comparison" says Sneha in an interview to this blog.

Don't think, that I am doing a police officer character like that of Vijayashanthi in my film and after the film was released, the actress entered into politics, I too would take up politics. I am just quite opposite to the actress' view. But I will sure vote for a candidate whom I think will be the best." quips Sneha.

Adds Sneha, " I have stopped acting in advertisement films, because of many of my fans have been requesting me not to appear in TV shows. I am learning Fashion training and Interior Decoration courses. I am also learning Dress Designing with my elder sister. If this my house in Valasaravakkam is appearing in different colors, it is because of my idea. You can see, each room has different colours. I feel happy over many praising me for the decorations and the colour quote that I had given to my house" and she herself puts question to us, "now tell me how is my house?".

When asked about Sneha's marriage, she did not answer to it but kept smiling. But my inner heart said the person must be a lucky fellow, because the priceless smiles of the actress and her respect she maintains with her father, who, once was working in a leading company in UAE, would always choose or even hunt a best groom to lead her a happy married life.

DHANUSH NEXT DEBUT AADUKALAM

Actor Dhanush is fresh from the success of ‘Padikkadhavan’ and is juggling Mitran Jawahar’s ‘Kutty’ and Vetrimaran’s ‘Aadukalam’ currently. If he is playing the role that Allu Arjun played as the carefree lover in the Telugu superhit ‘Arya’, he is busy playing a local Madurai boy in ‘Aadukalam’.
“Characters etched like the one I have in ‘Aadukalam’ come by rarely. Typically, an actor should consider himself lucky if he gets three or even four such well defined characters in his acting career. I’m glad I got this at such an early stage in my career,” says the actor, refusing to divulge more details.
He also says it’ll be a big break for him as it will be starkly different from his other roles. “I’m not the one to play the same role all the time. ‘Polladhavan’ was so action packed and the next release of mine, ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’, was a complete clean family film. This will be another genre in itself,” says the actor.

I HAVE NOT SEEN CROCODILES IN FILM INDUSTRY-SUHASINI

BY N THYAGARAJAN

"The day when I entered the film industry, I was cautioned, that I would be seeing a lot of humanbeings in the form of crocodiles. I was littled bit shaky then, but I never came across any such person in my career" openly declared actress Suhasini at a cassette release function took place on Sunday ( Yesterday).

One thing one should remember is that when Suhasini entered filmdom, she was offered with weighty roles and she was not allowed to mix freely with films' heroes in as heroine she did. She did her roles, as if a school teacher giving advices to their children, and when she acted for songs' sequences she did her role without touching the hero. This has catapulted her image. But one should remember, she married the gentle and famous MBA graduate director Mani Rathinam. But he is not a crocodile.

KALYANAM A NEW MEGA SOAP IN SUN TV

With 'Aanandam', a five-year-long mega serial on Sun TV, coming to an end, Sathya Jyothi Films' next serial 'Kalyanam' is all set to glue the audience to television sets on the same prime slot.

After the successful serial Lakshmi, actress Meena is playing the lead role. "It's not a regular soap opera, not the usual stuff like heroine facing a lot of troubles. I come in casuals and my character name is Meera," informs Meena.

The promo of the serial is already on air and it has created a lot of expectations among serial buffs.

Meena says, in the serial she works in the media, and the character she portrays is unique and something she has never done before."I've already done a movie with Sathya Jyothi Films and I know them well. My first serial 'Lakshmi' got a good response. Wherever I went, people questioned like why the serial ended so soon. I got more offers after the serial," said Meena, who hosted a game show on Jaya TV before Lakshmi serial.

"I was not sure whether I could do serials, because people usually have a feeling that if you go to the small screen your market will go down, but it was not so. I was totally wrong," says Meena, who is at present shooting for a song in Australia for 'Mariyadhai' starring Vijaykanth.

"Apart from Mariyadhai, I’m doing a Telugu and Malayalam movie. I might host a who if some interesting game shows happen," says the actress.

While the serial name is 'Kalyanam', when is Meena going to get married? "When I heard the serial title I also felt that everybody will ask me this question. It will happen by the year-end and I'm telling this for quite a while,” she laughs.

"People are used to this time slot and I’m very happy about my character and things are turning out well in the serial," adds Meena.

While 'Pattukottai' handles story, screenplay and direction, Vidudhalai is directing the serial. The title song is sung by Chinna Kuyil Chitra.

The cast includes Yuvarani, Delhi Kumar, Sakshi Siva, Shanthi Williams, Brinda Das, Rajkanth, Sindhu, Rajkamal among others. "The serial has got a different opening and entirely a new approach. The story starts with the owner of a Kalyana Mandapam Delhi Kumar's family and the subsequent entry of Meena" says the director.

Starting today, the serial is on air from Monday to Friday at 7.30 pm on Sun TV.

Rahman responsible for Tamil films going global: Vivek

If not for music composer A R Rehman, talent from Tamil filmdom would not have got their due recognition, noted Tamil comedian Vivek has said. "I do think that regional talent is not getting its due credit in the country. Our industry (Tamil films) has gone global, especially after A R Rahman entered the scene," Vivek, who was conferred Padma Shri recently, told PTI over phone from Chennai. "If our music is getting acknowledged globally today, it is because of Rahman. But Rahman is not the only one who is responsible for this, media is also one of the reasons," he said. Chennai-born Rahman who made his entry through Roja in Tamil and Hindi simultaneously went on to attain stardom in both Tamil and Hindi films within years. He is also in the queue for Oscars, for his hit scores in "Slumdog Millionaire".
Vivek, who was the first Tamil comedian to be bestowed with the Padma Shri award, refused to comment on veteran comedian Nagesh, who died just a week ago, not getting such an honour. Vivek said he was a great fan of Nagesh and he enjoyed his well-acclaimed movies -- Server Sundaram, Kaadalikka Neramillai and Neer Kumizhi.

RAHMAN TURNS FORTY-THREE

The most successful Indian musician to go global, A. R. Rahman turns 43 today. Apart from his millions of Indian fans who shower accolades on him by the hour, Rahman’s incredible talent had attracted the attention of the famed TIME Magazine which referred to him as the ‘Mozart of Madras’.

Born as A. S. Dileep Kumar in the year 1966 in Chennai. His father R. K. Shekhar Mudhaliar, was a composer and conductor for Malayalam-language films in Keralite cinema. His father died when Rahman was nine years old, and his family rented out musical equipment as a source of income. His family converted to Islam from Shaivite Hinduism in the late 1970s. Rahman was also a student at PSBB for a short while before changing schools. During these early years, Rahman served as a keyboard player and an arranger in bands such as “Roots” with childhood friend and percussionist Sivamani, John Anthony and Raja.

Rahman is the founder of the Chennai based rock group, “Nemesis Avenue”. He played the keyboard and piano, the synthesizer, the harmonium and the guitar. His curiosity in the synthesizer in particular increased because, he says, it was the “ideal combination of music and technology”. He began early training in music under Master Dhanraj. At the age of 11, he joined, as a keyboardist, the troupe of Ilaiyaraaja, one of many composers to whom musical instruments belonging to Rahman’s father were rented to. Rahman later played in the orchestra of M. S. Viswanathan and Ramesh Naidu, accompanied Zakir Hussain, Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan and L. Shankar on world tours and obtained a scholarship to Trinity College of Music in London, where he graduated with a degree in Western classical music.

In 1992, he was approached by film director Mani Ratnam to compose the score and soundtrack for Ratnam’s Tamil film Roja. The debut led Rahman to receive the Rajat Kamal award for Best Music Director at the National Film Awards, the first time ever by a first-time film composer. Rahman has since then gone on to win the award three more times . His soundtracks gained him recognition in the Tamil Nadu film industry and across the world for his stylistic versatality in his pieces including in Western classical, Carnatic, Traditional/folk, jazz, reggae and rock music. Rangeela, directed by Ram Gopal Varma, marked Rahman’s debut for Hindi–language films, made in the Mumbai film industry.

Rahman has been involved in several projects aside from film. He made an album Vande Mataram (1997) on India’s 50th anniversary of independence to commercial success. He followed it up with an album for the Bharat Bala–directed video Jana Gana Mana, a conglomeration of performances by many leading exponents/artists of Indian classical music. Rahman has written jingles for ads and composed several orchestrations for athletic events, T.V. and internet media publications, documentaries and short films.

In 1999, Rahman, along with choreographers Shobhana and Prabhu Deva Sundaram and a Tamil cinema dancing troupe performed with Michael Jackson in Munich, Germany, for his “Michael Jackson and Friends Concert.” In 2002, he composed his maiden stage production Bombay Dreams (2002) following a commission from musical theatre composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, a success in London’s West End. With Finnish folk music band Värttinä, he wrote the music for The Lord of the Rings theatre production and in 2004, Rahman composed the piece “Raga’s Dance” for Vanessa-Mae’s album Choreography.

In the last six years, Rahman has performed three successful world tours of his concerts to audiences in Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, Dubai, UK, Canada, the US and India .

Awards.

Rahman is the 1995 recipient of the Mauritius National Award and the Malaysian Award for contributions to music. He was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for his first West-End production. A four time National Award winner and conferred the Padma Shri from the Government of India, Rahman has received six awards for Best Music at the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and eleven awards for his scores at the Filmfare and Filmfare Awards South each. In 2006, he received an honorary award from Stanford University for contributions to global music. Rahman is also nominated for a Golden Globe for Slumdog Millionaire in the category of Best Original Score.

KADHALNA SUMMA ILLAI PREVIEW

Raj Television Network's maiden production venture "Kadhalna Summa Illai" will hit the screens for Pongal. At a time when, movies from Malayalam remakes have become a norm in Kollywood, director Illankannan has opted to redo a blockbuster Telugu movie "Gamyam".

The movie features Ravikrishna, Kamalinee Mukherjee and newcomer Sharvanand in the lead roles. Speaking about the movie, Illankannan said, 'Kadhalna Summa Illai is a feel-good film that revolves around these three personalities. Ravikrishna and Sharvanand have played their part well. Kamalinee is a rare talent who combines good looks and performance. Sharvanand enacted the same role in the original too.'

Raj TV, a prominent Tamil satellite Channel, is foraying to film production with this movie. Thanking the production house, Illankannan says, 'they had given me enough liberty. The movie has enough thrills and spills in it. It is about two youths, who have different outlooks on life and are opposite to each other. They meet and begin a journey together. What happens next between them forms the crux'.

The major highlight of the movie is a 'thiruvizha' song shot in an extravagant manner. The song featuring Ravikrishna and Tejashree was shot at Prasad Studios where a huge set was erected by GK.

According to Ravikrishna, this would be a trend-setting film. Illankannan is a youthful director. I am happy and thrilled to have been involved in the project.

Due credit should be given to every member of the crew. All of them have worked hard, Ravikrishna says and adds, 'it is a different film from my earlier ones. I play an easy-go-lucky youth, who is never serious about anything in his life'.

On his part, Sharvanand, says, 'I feel privileged to have made my debut in Tamil with such a good script. The script is a proven-winner in Telugu. But, Illankannan deserves all credit for making necessary changes in the script to suit the Tamil audience'.

Vincent, a former associate of P.C Sreeram, has cranked the camera. Nasser, Ilavarasu and Crazy Mohan are also in the cast. Vidyasagar, Anil and Manisharma have scored music for the film.
