BY N.THYAGARAJAN

Following Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Hassan's announcement, the Tamil 'superstar' Rajnikanth has also asked his fans not to celebrate his 58th birthday which falls on December 12. Kamal's birthday fell on November 7 and he made a big announcement that in order to express solidarity towards the killing of Sri Lankan Tamils, Rajinikanth also follow the suit. He requested his fans to express solidarity with the Sri Lankan Tamils in the island nation who were "suffering" in the ongoing war between the army and LTTE.

According to Sudhakar, incharge, Rajnikanth Fans Welfare Association, "everyone is deeply hurt by the sufferings of Tamils in the neighbouring island nation. Hence we have chosen not to celebrate Rajnikanth's birthday on December 12". Sudhakar has taken over the portfolio of Rajini Fans' Association, after the Superstar's erstwhile president Sathyanarayana has been asked to take rest for sometime.

The Super Star reportedly had said Sudhakar that his birthday could be used to leverage public opinion infavour of Sri Lankan Tamils.
